In 1964, the Company started in Richmond, VA as Thacker Trane Service Agency, selling and servicing commercial, industrial and institutional air conditioning equipment for the TRANE Company.

In 1975, realizing that our service was our major business, we decided to change our relationship with the TRANE Company to a Parts Outlet. At this time the name of the company was also changed to Cii Service. The letters stand for Commercial industrial & institutional  since we chose to dedicate our business to this market.

In 1976, Cii expanded to include an Engineering department concentrating on energy retrofit of existing buildings. This encompassed: engineering, designing changes, implementing these changes, monitoring, and servicing.

From 1981 to 1988, employees of Cii Engineered Systems won a total of 15 Energy Awards (both regional and national) from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). These awards are given in competition for projects to reduce energy consumption and provide cost savings. During this period Cii Engineered Systems won more ASHRAE Energy Awards than those of any other firm in the United States.

Over the past years, we have continued to expand our service and engineering capabilities and now have a total staff of more than 60 personnel with service locations in Virginia, and North Carolina. All Service Branches are supported by administrative and technical personnel from the Corporate Office in Richmond and offer a full range of HVAC services.
